- The police think they decide whether or not a crime is a 'hate crime'? They are sadly mistaken and if true, not doing their job 99% of the time. The Prosecutor decides whether or not to prosecute a crime as a 'hate crime'. The police are supposed to enforce the law, not interpret the law.
